Sorry for your experience at the radio! But THANK YOU for saying this. I always say that France is the country where I always had the best ingredients/produce, but some of the worst cooking I’ve ever experienced - even in Paris and at a high price point. I wish the countryside could reconnect to its roots - what I’d do to find the equivalent of a ‘trattoria’ here where I am.
And may God save this country from the cilantro-fication and cumin-fication of every damn dish.
Agree with this post. After living in Alsace for 11 years and experiencing mostly *delicious* food, we are disappointed by the poor quality of the majority of the restaurants in the Loire Valley where we now live. Even more surprising to us was to hear people raving about a "great" restaurant that was, at best, average.
Perhaps this has arisen from the higher prices of good quality food ingredients & the decrease of experiencing food that actually tastes good in the home? So people can't discern the truly good from the average? 🤔
